Netflix chooses Microsoft for ads in its cheaper subscription

Netflix has made its choice, so Microsoft will manage the ads for its future subscription, which will be cheaper. This one will have ads, unlike the existing subscriptions which have none. The idea is to reach more people with a financially more advantageous offer.

This is what Netflix declared :

Microsoft has the proven ability to meet all of our advertising needs as we work together to create a new ad-supported offering. Most importantly, Microsoft has provided the flexibility to innovate over time, both from a technology and sales perspective, as well as strong privacy protections for our members.

The streaming service confirms that there is still a lot of work to do. Its collaboration with the Windows publisher is still in its infancy. If all goes well, the cheaper offer with ads will see the light of day before the end of the year.

Microsoft also commented its partnership:

At launch, consumers will have more options to access Netflix’s award-winning content. Advertisers who turn to Microsoft for their advertising needs will have access to Netflix viewership and premium connected TV inventory. All advertisements shown on Netflix will be exclusively available on the Microsoft platform. Today’s announcement also confirms Microsoft’s approach to privacy, which is built on protecting customer information.

Several pieces of information are still unknown at this stage. For example, what will be the price of the cheapest offer? Will ads be shown at the beginning of films and series or during? Will it be possible to pass them?
