‘Motorola will release the successor to the G100 in November’

Motorola is rumored to announce the successor to the Motorola G100 next month. The device, with the original name ‘Motorola G200’, should have Qualcomm’s fastest processor, a 108 MP camera and a screen with a refresh rate of 144 hertz.

Moto G series gets high-end

At the end of March this year, Motorola introduced the Motorola G100. An affordable top-of-the-range device from the company’s G-series. This G-series is mainly known for its devices from the budget and middle segment of the market. With the G100, however, Motorola changed this. This device has specifications that come close to top devices from that time.

For example, the G100 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. That is a ‘reissue’ of the high-end 865 (Plus) processor, the top processor from a year earlier. This new processor has, among other things, eight cores that ran at a maximum of 3.2GHz, compared to the maximum 3.09Ghz that the 865 Plus brought. Furthermore, the device has a 6.7-inch Full-HD LCD panel with a processing speed of 90Hz, a 5000mAh battery, 8GB of working memory and four cameras on the back (64 MP main camera, 16 MP wide-angle camera, 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP ToF sensor). sensor).

Even more high end

With the upcoming Motorola G200, Motorola wants to take this one step further. The device must have the fastest Qualcomm processor at the moment, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888.

Motorola also wants to take a big step towards the high-end segment in terms of cameras. The G200 must have the Samsung ISOCELL image sensor (S5KHM2). A 108 MP sensor that makes it possible, among other things, to make 4K videos with 120 fps. However, the sensor is not really high-end. The sensor is also used in much cheaper devices, such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro of 259 euros. It should be noted that the Motorola could of course get more out of this sensor with the help of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Xiaomi does not have this processor, but a much slower Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G.

Other specifications and availability

In addition to the 108 MP camera, the G200 will most likely get a 13 MP wide-angle camera and two 2 MP sensors that should help with estimating depth. Furthermore, the device would have a Full-HD + screen with a refresh rate of 144 hertz, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The device would be announced in China in November. There is no word yet on a possible global launch. Nothing is known about the price yet. The G100 was launched for 499 euros, it is expected that this would be about the same. Curious about what we thought of the Motorola G100? Read it in our review!
