Telegram has received a major update that gives users more options when using emoji reactions. You can also more easily share your account via a link, you can determine the order of downloads and more. We discuss all the novelties.

Telegram emoji reactions and statuses

What was once a feature for Premium users is now available to everyone. You can now use any emoji to respond to a message, according to a Telegram blog post. For that, the app has rolled out a new drop-down menu with categories for emoji. It appears as soon as you tap a message, and then next to the emoji on the arrow.

New is the emoji status. If you tap your profile icon in Telegram, you will get the new option to set an emoji status. At that moment you can also choose an emoji from a whole list of options, but afterwards you still have to set how long the status can be active.

Shareable links and downloads

If you wanted to share your Telegram profile with someone, there was already a QR code that you can show or forward to someone. This way they can get in touch with you quickly. Those who use a username in Telegram can now share it more easily, thanks to a new format of links pointing to your profile. You can share your Telegram profile with the link: ‘yourusername.t.me‘.

Telegram may be a messaging app, but the app is also very suitable for sharing large files. If you are a Premium subscriber, you can share files up to 4 GB, and for free users there is a limit of 2 GB. Suppose you download several files at the same time, you can now choose the order in which those downloads take place. Drag the most important file up in the row.

Finally, Telegram has also improved some animations in the app and the app now also supports Android’s colored Material You icons. Since the Android 13 update, third-party apps can also offer such an icon. Telegram’s latest update is rolling out now and it should be available on your phone in the coming days.
