macOS Monterey: Universal Order will not be ready at launch
Bad news for those who wanted the Universal Control function with macOS Monterey: it will not be available with the final version. This will be available on October 25.
No Universal Order at launch of macOS Monterey
Apple updated his site to indicate that Universal Order on macOS Monterey will be “Available this fall”, without further details. We can therefore imagine that an update will activate the functionality. It will definitely be with macOS 12.1.
Universal Control allows you to use a single keyboard and a single mouse or trackpad to manage a Mac and an iPad. When you switch from your Mac to your iPad, your mouse or trackpad cursor turns into an arrow or circle to automatically adapt to the device you’re using. Universal control works without effort or configuration. Just use your mouse or trackpad to hover the cursor from one device to another until it appears on that device. The system works with a maximum of three devices.
The lack of Universal Control in the final version of macOS Monterey is not much of a surprise. Indeed, the system was not available with the many betas and it is still not this evening with the release candidate. Apple obviously needs more time to come up with a system that works well.
