LineageOS 17.1 ends with support for two popular Samsung phones
One of the most popular “alternative” Android systems or Custom ROM by name LineageOS update the list of devices for which it is available after some time. In the case of the latest version 17.1, support for more and more mobile phones is increasing quite regularly, many of which are quite old. Currently, for example, it is an interesting Netxbit Robin phone and three Motorola models. However, the announced news sometimes goes in the opposite direction, ie to streamline this list. At the moment end of further support from LineageOS applies to Redmi Note 7 and OPPO Find 7, for example, but mainly popular ones Samsung S9 and Note 9 models.
What does this mean for these mobiles? The mentioned superstructure will continue to work in them, only no new official official versions of LineageOS will be seen in the future. The reason is mostly voluntary developers are no longer interested or have enough time further develop it for specific models. The owners of the four mobile phones, who support this system, have to reckon with the fact that they will not see the next version. At least not the official one. The end of LineageOS support will probably freeze the owners of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 phones the most.
