Launch apps from your lock screen with Launchify
Your iPhone’s lock screen has undergone a major makeover in iOS 16. For example, you can add depth to your background. You do that by pasting a part of your subject behind your clock. Speaking of this clock; you can also adjust the font and color of this with iOS 16.
Best of all, we like that you can add widgets in iOS 16 directly to your lock screen. Unfortunately, this does not apply to opening apps. Fortunately, Launchify does let you open apps from the new iOS 16 lock screen through these widgets!
How to set up Launchify on your iOS 16 lock screen
Launchify is an app from the Dutch developer Niels van Straaten. It uses the new features of your iPhone home screen to let you use iPhone even faster. The name is also appropriate; Launchify matches the new astronomy theme of Apple’s new wallpapers nicely.
It’s fairly easy to set up Launchify as a ‘widget’ on your iOS 16 lock screen. Make sure you install the app first, then follow the steps below to set it up:
- Tap the plus sign at the top right of Launchify;
- Add an app in the app library;
- Choose your image for that app;
- Go to your lock screen and hold the screen for a long time;
- Tap ‘Edit’;
- Tap ‘Add widgets’;
- Add ‘Launchify’ (with the rocket icon) from the list;
- Tap the Launchify icon again on the screen and choose the app you want to quickly launch with Launchify from your iOS 16 lock screen;
- Tap ‘Done’;
- Tap or ‘Set as wallpaper pair’ or ‘Customize home screen’;
- Tap the screen and voilà, you can open your app in no time!
Note: You can only open one app in this way if you do not take out a subscription. So you have to choose which app you want to have on your home screen. Of course you can also just take out a subscription for 2.49 euros per month or 19.99 euros per year. Then you can also add your own images as an icon.
