Lara was to have a Vortex Raider parachute and machete in the last Tomb Raider

The authors of the Tomb Raider series have already introduced us to an older prototype known as the Tomb Raider: Ascension. Now they focus on Shadow of the Tomb Raider from 2018 and show fans, for example, how cut scenes and other movies were made. Probably an even more interesting look into the recent history of the saga, however, is provided by another video, which in practice demonstrates the functions and mechanisms that the developers worked hard on, but did not make it to the final version in the end.

According to the authors, Shadow of the Tomb Raider introduced a number of new elements, especially in terms of Lary Croft’s acrobatic skills. However, two other interesting ideas emerged during the development. A beautiful British archaeologist could cut through the dense vegetation in the jungle with the help of a machete and use a parachute to jump from high altitudes. One of the examples shows how without a machete, the passage through the jungle makes Lara very difficult, while with her help it makes it much easier to get through a similar place. Unfortunately, the video no longer reveals why the team gave up on this idea. Whether he had a problem with implementation, lack of time, or simply the mechanisms did not work in practice.

Some fans complained in the comments that the released mechanisms always look so tempting. Others hope to appear in some sequels. However, someone remarks that the machete could eventually be repetitive despite its attractiveness, and the parachute does not make much sense in the dense vegetation. At the end of the video, there is also a bonus scene with a solar eclipse, which even in the unfinished version looks very impressive.
