Kids at your wedding? That’s how you entertain them

Once you start planning your wedding, there are several things to think about. About the guest list, for example. And do you only invite the couples or also their children? Children at a wedding may be challenging, but they can also be a lot of fun. Provided you think carefully about the activities for your big day.

Because that something has to be arranged, that is one thing that is certain. They have to be watched all day and entertainment is super important. There’s nothing more annoying than kids who get bored and become hands-on, maybe just when you’re about to toast. Fortunately, there are many activities that you can organize to make it a great party for the little guests too.

bouncy castle

A bouncy castle is always popular with young and old. At various wedding locations you have enough space outside to set up a great bouncy castle. And, it also makes for very nice photos. Perhaps with the newlyweds…

An entertainer at the wedding

Do you want to entertain children at your wedding but not sure how? Take a look at a balloon folder, clown, puppeteer or magician. In no time the children will be on the entertainer’s lips and there will be plenty of time for you as adults to catch up.

dress up box

Go round the circle, ask the people around you and see what you still have lying around. Fancy dress is a great success and a box filled with different suits provides some hours of entertainment. It also provides delicious snapshots in the wedding album. Maybe you can find wedding clothes somewhere?

Your own snack table

How nice to give the kids the freedom to enjoy themselves, including the food and drinks? With a candy table or a popcorn machine, children’s hands are quickly filled. Do you want to combine something with the wedding cake? Then look at a room where the children can decorate cakes undisturbed or get started with their own decorated wedding cake. Have lemonade taps, maybe a loose ice cream cart and serve pancakes for lunch.

Photo assignments during the wedding

A scavenger hunt may cause a little too much hysteria among the children, but you can put them to work with photo assignments. Put grandma in the picture, take a creative picture of the newlyweds or photograph a flower up close. If you want to make it even more extensive, consider an assignment book. Games, coloring pages and photos are sure to keep you entertained for a long time.

Craft and drawing table

Crafting and drawing is always good. Set a nice table, fill it with coloring pages or opt for an XXL coloring page, (a roll of) drawing paper, markers and pencils and let them have their way. You can also look into cardboard playhouses that the kids can decorate during the day. A tip: leave out the jars of glitter for this day…

A goodie bag in advance for the little wedding guests

As soon as all children enter, they receive a personalized goodie bag. That makes everyone happy! Put in a coloring book, fidget toy, a box of pencils, some candies, a disposable camera, bubble blower, balloons and maybe a jar of Play-Doh and you won’t hear them for a few hours.

Play corner with favorite toys

Ask all parents to bring their child’s favorite toys. Create a nice corner with a teepee tent, pillows, rugs and a toy box and let them do their thing.

Chill area for the older children

If there is enough space at the wedding venue, you can consider setting up a chill out area for the older kids. Think of lovely lounge cushions, a TV screen, a Netflix connection and maybe even a game console. There are also air hockey and football tables for rent and of course a photo booth always works well. Bet the kids can’t get out of there anymore?

Babysitter at your wedding

Are there quite a lot of children coming and do you find it difficult to organize everything properly? There are nannies available who will take care of all the children and take care of all the children on the big day. The children are entertained and the parents have their hands free.

let it go
