The Poco F4 GT is a phone that boasts striking physical buttons for gaming. They are triggers that are reminiscent of a controller. We were able to test them in advance and we show you how to use them in a short video.

Poco F4 GT Game Features

On Tuesday, Poco took the curtain off its FG 4 GT flagship. The device came with a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for the relatively accessible price of 499 euros. The device also has four speakers and a vapor chamber cooling system. In short, these are all features that should convince consumers who sometimes like a game on their phone.

But there’s more, because Poco has also built two trigger buttons into his phone that are reminiscent of the buttons on a game controller. You can use it if you hold the phone horizontally when gaming. With a magnetic system and two sliders you can unlock and lock them. In the video below from the game Asphalt 9: Legends we show you how you can use them in games.

That is how it works

You must therefore link the triggers to virtual buttons on the screen in advance. That’s a one-time setting for each game. When entering a game, swipe down from the left corner of the screen to access Poco’s special menu of game features. There you press the button shoulder buttons† You will then see virtual buttons with ‘L’ and ‘R’ and the idea is that you place each one on top of the normal virtual buttons of the game. If you then click Save you can now operate the selected virtual buttons with the triggers.

Limits

You should know about the triggers that there are no real travel is when pressing. With game controllers, for example, you can use the triggers to give more or less throttle in a racing game depending on how hard you press them. That is not possible with the buttons on the Poco F4 GT.

There is also no way to link the physical triggers to game functions via the settings in-game. In other words, you cannot use the triggers as an addition to the virtual buttons that can already be used on the screen in a game. Still, according to the Chinese brand, the feature should work with 100 most popular games it has tested, but Poco does not share a full list of compatible games for the time being.
