Just Annoying: 8 Gaming Characters That Will Drive You Insane

We all need NPCs – they populate our gaming worlds and can help in a variety of ways. But some characters who are actually friendly make life pretty hell for us. You told us which gaming characters really get on your nerves with their kind.

Annoying NPCs

Whether dawdling companions, nagging traders or annoying quest givers – we all know annoying NPCs that drive us crazy and that we would rather not have in the game. We therefore wanted to know from you on social media: Which NPCs do you find the most annoying?

A small compilation of the best answers can be found in the following photo gallery.

Florian just can’t forget the wise words. Deckard Cain likes to repeat himself, and he always wants you to listen to what he says: “I pray to his likeness every night.
But this saying!!! It’s just unbearable.”

Editor Mandy finds: “For me, the gold medal for the most annoying NPC definitely goes to Preston Garvey. No other NPC in the big, wide video game world has managed to piss me off that much. The worst thing is the fact that he downright bothers you. Because he doesn’t offer you a quest, no, he doesn’t ask you whether you want to accept it at all – he pushes it into your quest log without being asked and unintentionally and so easily crosses borders!

On top of that, these tasks are monotonous and unimaginative. But what finally tops it all off is the permanent and insane hum. This is subliminal torture, even if you don’t see it, at least you hear it.”

Alex annoying careless companions: “Pretty much every carryable companion in Skyrim. You try to sneak through a cave, happily shoot everything and everyone with your bow and your companion runs with the words ‘FOR SKYRIMS!’ happily ahead, startling every opponent in the cave.”

Marvin can’t get anything out of this NPC: “She can’t even climb down a ladder herself, gets in the way regularly and above all this constant ‘LEON HELP!!!'”

Pascal writes on Facebook: “You come to the monastery in Sasau, don’t think anything bad after you’ve saved half the world on your own and then you get accused by her that the curator (Sebastian vom Berg), who’s always so bad and pushy, at least there was to help. You think to yourself: ‘Sure, I’d rather let a few dozen civilians die, so that three, I repeat! THREE! Skalitzer not die.’

Well, I don’t usually like them either, but that was the crowning glory.”

Salvatore interjects: “Would say Roman from GTA 4?
Nobody wanted to go bowling with him!”

Michael means: “The most annoying NPC for me is Phai from The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I mean, even if you know your next destination, she comes out of the sword and says, ‘Lord, I have something to tell you, you must go there next.’ Total nerve NPC.”

Christopher writes on Facebook: “You can say what you want, but the most annoying NPC is definitely Mud, the horror digger from Gothic 1. Whoever played the game for the first time was initially very happy to have someone who would come with them. Wrong thought.

Every three minutes you’ll be babbled on about the most inappropriate situation, even if you’re about to be beaten by a horde of orcs.”
