Japanese inventor Lanius develops a robot spider with a lamp that chases you

Most night lights are intended to make children feel safe. In that regard, this night lamp may not be quite suitable. But it’s funny.

Lanius, a Japanese who invents and also builds all kinds of bizarre devices under this pseudonym, has now managed to conquer great fame on the internet with one of his latest creations. Lanius found the existing lamps far too boring, and besides, where are they when you need them? Always helpful, and fond of covering remarkable constructions, he came up with the perfect solution.

His new robot lamp has a base with six legs and a cube-shaped lampshade. In this first version you can control these lamps with a game console. The intention is that the successor to this lamp will also move automatically and can roam throughout the house to enlighten you. Some people will love this. Other people will think it’s just a scary thing.

Meanwhile, the inventor has expanded the lamp. For example, it is now equipped with a mood light to indicate the mood. It is also planned to provide the lamp with facial expressions. And given the other home robots from Amazon, among others, that are now being developed, it might not be such a bad idea to equip a home robot with a lamp.

Because on closer inspection, it is of course quite nice to be enlightened on the way to the toilet by a friendly, docile robot with walking legs instead of wheels.

Lanius’s daughter, meanwhile, loves it. And his large group of followers on Twitter too. Incidentally, he also invented many other ingenious, but fairly useless devices. Its operating robot, which helpfully distributes snacks and drinks while dribbling on spider legs, is handy, but this magical tabletop is completely next level. After all, what is a Japanese breakfast without automatically moving trays?
