March security update Google

Like every first Monday of the month, Google releases a security update for its Pixel phones that addresses various vulnerabilities in Android. This time 24 issues ranging from high to critical have been resolved. There is one critical system flaw, but the flaws section with Qualcomm and MediaTek chips contains even more critical vulnerabilities.

You can read which vulnerabilities Google has addressed with this update in the accompanying March Security Bulletin. There’s also another Custom Security Bulletin just for Pixel phones. As you can see there, a lot of bugs have been fixed that are specific to Pixel phones. Google also talks about six critical errors here.

Install update

Do you have any of the Pixel phones listed above? Then you get the update via an over-the-air update (OTA). You can also install the update manually and you can read exactly how to do that here. The Factory Images can be found here and the OTA files can be found here.

If you don’t have a Pixel phone, you have to wait until the manufacturer of your phone has rolled out the update. In the articles below you will find out if and when your phone will receive updates.
