iOS 16.2 RC is out: official release coming soon

Apple has already released several test versions of iOS 16.2 in recent weeks. Now the RC (Release Candidate) has also been published. After the release of the RC, it usually takes less than a week for the official release to come. This means that you will probably be able to install iOS 16.2 on your iPhone on December 15. This will be approximately from 19:00 Dutch time.

iOS 16.2: the new features

With iOS 16.2, your iPhone gets quite a few new features. Below are the most important in a row.

1. Freeform

With iOS 16.2 you get a new app called Freeform. You can see this app as a kind of digital whiteboard on which you can go wild alone or together. You can draw on it to your heart’s content, post sticky notes, show photos and videos, share PDFs and much more. The app will also be available on iPad and Mac.

2.Apple Music Sing

Do you have an Apple Music subscription? Then you get something extra special in iOS 16.2 (and this RC). Apple is releasing Apple Music Sing. This is a cool karaoke feature that you can have fun with to sing blare with your favorite songs. Not all songs have support for the new sing function yet, but more songs are being added all the time.

3. New Widgets

There are a few new widgets for the lock screen of your iPhone. These are Sleep (English: Sleep) and Medications (English: Medications). With the Sleep app you can view the data of your sleeping habits. The Medication widget lets you know when it’s time to take your medication.

4. Always on screen

You didn’t have many options to adjust during the release of iOS 16 and many iPhone 14 Pro (Max) owners also find the always-on screen much too bright. That will change with iOS 16.2.

Now you can, among other things, turn off the background and no longer show the notifications on the screen. Want to know more about the new always on screen? Then read the article below.
