iPhone 14 Pro: Always-on screen will show iOS 16 lock screen widgets

The always-on screen of the iPhone 14 Pro is confirmed a little more today with the display of iOS 16 lock screen widgets, says Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The journalist noted :

Like the Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to display widgets showing weather, calendars, stock prices, activities and other data while the screen remains at low brightness and low rate. of refreshment. And there will be a setting — like the Apple Watch — that prevents sensitive data from appearing on the lock screen for all to see.

The always-on screen will therefore make its debut on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, but you should know that this system already exists on Android smartphones, and has had it for a while now. This allows you to always have information on your screen, without turning it on completely. This can include time, date, unread notifications and more.

Both iPhone 14 Pro will have an OLED screen with a variable display from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. In comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro have a variable refresh rate between 10 Hz and 120 Hz. Being able to go down to 1 Hz on the new models should make it possible to really limit energy consumption with the screen always on. But for those who do not want such a mode, we can imagine that Apple will offer an option at iOS level to deactivate it.
