iPhone 14 may be difficult to obtain due to supply shortage

Do you want to order a brand new iPhone in September? Then you may need a little more patience than usual. Due to a supply shortage, the iPhone 14 will probably be difficult to obtain at first.

Read on after the ad.

‘Delivery shortage iPhone 14’

Apple will order 10 percent fewer iPhone 14 models in the coming months than planned. This is not because there is little demand for the new smartphones, but because of problems at chip supplier TSMC. According to DigiTimes the company is struggling with a supply shortage of semiconductors for the iPhone 14.

The first wave of orders would initially consist of about 90 million copies. That will now be about 81 million. It is not known how the relationship between the different models works. In addition to the ‘regular’ iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, we also expect a new model: the iPhone 14 Max. It is just as big as the Pro Max, but less luxurious. The device comes at the expense of the smallest iPhone: there will probably be no successor to the 5.4 inch iPhone 13 mini.

According to DigiTimes, the supply shortage of the iPhone 14 is a temporary problem. By the end of the year, TSMC should be able to meet demand again. So you (possibly) only suffer from it if you are one of the early adopters, who want to have the new iPhone at home as soon as possible.

Everything you need to know about the iPhone 14

The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max get a controversial new design with two small holes in the screen for the selfie camera and Face ID sensors. So the infamous notch disappears. The resolution of the main camera goes up to 48 megapixels, supporting 8K video capture.

The normal iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max seem to be getting less exciting. They keep the current design and the old A15 chip from the iPhone 13. However, just like the Pro models, they get a better selfie camera with autofocus. The battery life is also likely to be slightly better.
