iOS 15.5 beta 1: the list of new features

Apple today released the first beta of iOS 15.5 for developers. This version includes some changes, but they are mostly “hidden” for now. It should be understood by this that it is at the level of the iOS code and not necessarily accessible to users.

What’s New in iOS 15.5 Beta 1

— References to Apple Classical are present. This is the streaming application dedicated to classical music, announced by Apple in 2021. References in the Music application are “Open in Apple Classical” and “Open this in the new app designed for classical music”. We can therefore imagine that the launch is soon. And as a reminder, the Apple Music application on Android already contained similar pieces of code.

— In the Cards app, there are now ‘Request’ and ‘Send’ buttons for Apple Pay Cash. As it stands, Apple Pay Cash remains only available in the United States.

— The Universal Control system with iPadOS 15.5 and macOS 12.4 is not functional with devices running iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3. It is therefore necessary that the Mac and the iPad are up to date.

— The SportsKit framework continues to be developed, including mentions in the TV application to indicate the scores of the various innings of baseball games.

— The iTunes Pass should change its name to Apple Balance. Also, there was previously an option to add an iTunes Pass to the Cards app, which contains the money associated with your Apple account. This is no longer possible with iOS 15.5, at least in the US. However, the option remains accessible in other countries.

— The Apple News app contains new code to stop supporting certain devices. “Sorry, the News app is no longer fully supported on older devices”. There is also “Sorry, you need to upgrade your device to view this content”.
