xCloud is coming to Xbox One and Series X / S in late 2021

Microsoft announcement that xCloud will debut on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S at the end of the year. There is not a more precise date for the moment. Console players will be able to play streaming.

What is the point of having xCloud on the different Xboxes? It is true that the question can arise, since the players have the consoles and can by definition enjoy the games which are on them. The cloud gaming service has more interest on a smartphone, a tablet or a computer. This is what Microsoft declared on the interest of its service for consoles:

  • Discover and play over 100 quality games from the Xbox Game Pass catalog without having to use up your storage or wait for installations to complete.
  • Join your friends in multiplayer, as in Sea of Thieves for example, as soon as you receive an invitation and set sail without having to install the game.
  • Play new generation exclusive titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator or The Medium on Xbox One via the cloud (this feature will be available soon).

It is true that the support on Xbox One can be interesting, knowing that xCloud is based on the infrastructure of an Xbox Series X. Players with the old console will therefore be able to enjoy the new games.

“We’ll start testing these features with Xbox Insider members this fall, so we can gather their feedback and improve the experience.”, explains Microsoft. Streaming gameplay will be 1080p at 60 frames per second, as is currently the case on other media.
