iOS 15.4 beta 4: discover all the new features

iOS 15.4 beta 4 is out and the testers have already noticed some big new features. In this article you can read all about it, including when you can expect the new functions on your iPhone.

Read on after the ad.

iOS 15.4 beta 4 update

The Find My app and Apple’s AirTags will receive important updates in the new iOS 15.4 beta 4. The app and the trackers have been used for both good and bad purposes for a long time. Apple is trying to combat stalking with this update.

In addition, the testers, provided they have a HomePod, received a notification immediately after the installation of this beta about setting up voice recognition for the Dutch Siri. Another indication for a quick release of the HomePod in the Netherlands.

Apple’s update for AirTags against stalking has been coming for a while, but in the new version of iOS 15.4 it is really available for your iPhone. Users will receive a notification when setting up an AirTag. These are intended to make it easy to locate lost items. Apple now states this purpose in a disclaimer with the installation. In addition, Apple indicates during the installation process that if you abuse the AirTag, the police can trace your identity via your Apple ID.

Your iPhone also reports in iOS 15.4 beta 4 which device may be tracking you. The app previously reported that an unknown device had been nearby for a while. With this update you can easily find out if this device is innocent AirPods, or if someone has hidden an AirTag in your bag. It’s about time Apple tackled this problem, because we find the abuse of these channels quite scary.

You can also easily split the notifications from the Find My app after this update. It is possible to stop innocent devices from reporting. This feature allows you to clean up your Notification Center. You can find the new settings in the Find My app. If you tap on ‘I’ there you will see this option.

HomePod Mini Siri

Siri voice recognition in Dutch

Testers using HomePod will receive a notification about (re)setting the voice recognition function immediately after installing iOS 15.4 beta 4. Identifying your voice was already possible in English, but now seems to come to the Dutch Siri as well. This is useful because it allows you to use the same HomePod with several people, without losing your privacy.

With voice recognition you can have everything that Siri has ready for you (notifications, calendar events and messages) read aloud automatically. The feature prevents others from requesting this information through the HomePod. This feature is also a new clue to the release of the HomePod mini in the Netherlands. Earlier we wrote that the HomePod mini supports Dutch.
