Instagram responds to riot after update

There has been a major online riot after the latest Instagram update. The company responds.

Instagram is moving even more in the direction of TikTok. And by that we mean actively pushing Reels. The Reels make way for the space that was previously set up for viewing photos and possibly videos of friends. This step has led to a rain of complaints online. Instagram is now responding.

Instagram update

On Twitter CEO Adam Mosseri says the update still needs refinement. However, there is no turning back. The response will therefore not sound like music to users’ ears. Instagram sees video as something of the future and that the company must also move with the trends.

The complaining doesn’t just come from regular users. Celebrities and influencers are also not satisfied with the new Instagram. Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, among others, have said they do not like the new update. Instagram would become too much like TikTok. And a large part of the users are on Insta, but are not active on TikTok. Often for good reason..

It is up to Meta, the parent company of Instagram, to find a happy medium. To innovate, but also to keep users happy. Well, get that done.
