Instagram is testing subscription and paid content for followers

Instagram is currently testing a new service with subscription and paid content. This will make it possible to ask for money for exclusive videos and Instagram Stories.

Read on after the ad.

Instagram subscription with paid content

It has been rumored for some time that as a maker you can soon start asking money for exclusive posts on Instagram. This was apparent from the in-app purchases with the Instagram app in the App Store. In this overview, Instagram Subscriptions suddenly appeared that will cost 0.99 euros per month. According to new rumors, there is also a subscription that will cost 100 dollars per month.

It now appears that more progress is being made, because the popular photo and video service is now running a test with ten American content creators who can try out the paid function. When you pay for such a subscription with a creator, you get access to special Instagram Stories, live streams and other special content.

Special badge on Instagram

Instagram seems to be following Twitter with the subscription, which has introduced Super Followers (only in the United States). Like Twitter, Instagram gives you a special badge next to your name when you leave a comment (or private message) with a creator you have a paid subscription to. Of course you also have access to the associated exclusive content.

At the moment, all the money from the subscriptions goes to the content creators. Instagram will not yet ask for a portion of the proceeds, at least not ‘until 2023’. What Instagram wants to charge for the subscription service after that is not yet known at the moment.
