Instagram ends with the “Swipe Up” feature. What will change?

Instagram it regularly responds to users and adjusts the interface and controls of its mobile application. The latest planned change is according to the portal TheVerge refers to gestures that open web pages in posts.

The coating gesture is replaced by a sticker

Active Instagram users have certainly noticed that some accounts offer the option to move the Story up, where a link to a website will appear. To create such an option, a particular account must have authentication, which usually only affects large accounts and creators.

According to the portal TheVerge however, this possibility should be eliminated soon. Instagram is currently informing the relevant accounts that use it. According to a notification that also reached the editors TheVerge, the upward gesture should be replaced by a sticker.

Instagram is already testing the novelty

This option appeared in Instagram some time ago and was available in limited mode. In June, the service began testing it on users who either had to be authenticated or had at least 10,000 followers. Such Stories will soon have to use this sticker to insert an Internet link.

At this time, it’s not entirely clear whether Instagram will restrict link labels to verified accounts only or will be available to most by account type. Instagram claims that it is still evaluating it. It is already confirmed that the removal of the gesture and the possibility of inserting a link under the story will take place after 30 August.
