In Baldur’s Gate III it is now possible to play for wizards -apkrig
Baldur’s Gate fans, cheer! At least that’s how we translate words many words from the developers at Larian Studios, namely from lead designer Swen Vincke. The third part of the legendary saga, which has been available since October last year in the preliminary access program, has received the largest patch to date, which adds another playable character and a completely new location. So if you’re irritated by the idea of how the first of the upcoming acts would work if the main character were a wizard or his no less charming female counterpart, you now get the opportunity to try it. What’s more, you can run for adventure in the new Grymforge area, hidden in Underdark. In reality, however, these two great attractions are just the tip of the iceberg of a literally giant patch that enhances a whole myriad of other aspects, fixes bugs, and balances existing gameplay to be fair, adequately motivating, and most of all fun, which Vincke says is the most important thing in the long run.
If you have secured early access by buying an unfinished game for the full price of 60 euros, then of course you have instant access to the patch, you just have to reckon with the fact that downloading a 60GB package can take you some time. After installation, however, more than 350 (!) Items will change in the game, at least according to the available document on news and interventions in the game, as it was presented on Steam. If you’re an avid fan who has already spent tens or maybe hundreds of pre-release, then you’ll be thrilled by the improved start of dialogue when you first get into one of the Dank Crypt rooms or launch the Oak Fahter’s Embrace special effect only in the moment someone attacks the player. For everyone else, however, the developers have prepared an equally extensive tapping of news and changes, which was then discussed in detail by Swen Vincke in interviews for several game magazines. Simply put, that’s enough and everything seems to be perfectly fine, regardless of the postponement of the release.
You can expect new cutscenes in Underdark and Druid Grove, completely updated animations for the Githyaki race or support for Turkish.
“For several months now, it has been possible to hear a strange incantation from the offices of the Larian Studios development team, which was interrupted only when someone left to pick up the delivered food. On the day, however, our team emerged from its darkened tomb, “the developers begin a long blog post in a very relaxed spirit. They describe patch number 6, subtitled Forging the Arcane, which, in addition to the aforementioned wizarding class and new location, also brings other weapons, offers great graphic enhancements, orchestral background music, and hours of other content to explore. “You can also expect new cutscenes in Underdark and Druid Grove, completely updated animations for the Githyaki race or support for Turkish,” the developers added. After all, the next lines focus on the biggest, so let’s go to the wizards.
“Wizards are not typical magicians. Unlike your book wizards or sorcerers, our wizard’s abilities come from within. This class uses its own sacrificial power to trigger a battle in battle, ”the developers added profession especially for those who are not very familiar with the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Of course, Baldur’s Gate III is based on them, and as Vincke confirmed in an interview with the British Eurogamer, all 12 classes will gradually come into play, which can be found in the manual for table D&D players. Wizards come into play with their own spells, such as Horrific Visage, which causes enemy bleeding, Chromatic Orb representing a devastating, almost nuclear attack on one target, or Crown of Madness, which drives the selected character insane with the possibility of attacking his species. But the wizard’s most important ability remains Metamagia – a characteristic ability that allows you to adjust your own spells in combat, which makes the wizard a relatively dynamic and unpredictable force. In this way, for example, you can increase the range or duration of a spell or hit more enemies at once, which is undoubtedly useful, considering that you can also modify spells cast by someone else.
As you probably already know, the developers at Larian Studios are exactly copying the rules of D&D, so it’s no surprise that wizards come to Baldur’s Gate III with its two subclasses, respectively. origins. Both wild magic and dragon pedigree are represented with their specific characteristics and a set of strengths and weaknesses. The sorcerer of wild magic is influenced by the forces of chaos, which, however, form the basis of its essence and do not seem to wild the wizards had a problem. Representatives of the dragon family tree usually like to remind you that their family tree leads to some powerful wizard from ancient times, who made a deal with the dragon, or even had dragon parents. The player therefore has a chance to choose a dragon on the 1st level, which could have been his ancestor, and accordingly continue to roll his own specialization from cold, through acidic, to fire spells. But I’m not going to spew more and more details from the D&D manual – as is the case with all other mechanisms, try it for yourself, it’s fun!
It was in terms of duels that the Larian developers wanted to take the experience one step higher, and now it offers new tactical options and ways to – literally – gut out every orc in the area who happens to look at you strangely.
Another important thing that has been added to the preliminary approach is the Grymforge location, which has been mentioned several times. It is an ancient Sharran fortress accessible via Underdark, on the way through Ebonlake. The new region will take you for the first time to the places where early access ended and will take you a little further afield in the story to ominous caves, where shady rooms illuminate the rivers of magma. According to the developers, Grymforge promises hours and hours of new content with new tasks, cutscenes, a whole host of fights and characters that you have never been able to meet in Baldur’s Gate III. If you want to have a better idea of what the new spots in the game look like, the developers have, of course, provided not only a trailer, but also a nutritious two-hour portion of acting by someone other than Swen Vincke. In armor, of course! And yes, again, these are 120 minutes of cheerful coincidences, funny moments and tense encounters, into which more and more modifications of the game speak. It was in terms of duels that the Larian developers wanted to take the experience a step further, and now it offers new tactical options and ways to – literally – gut out every orc in the area who happens to look at you strangely. Translated to player, melee attacks can now more accurately target enemy body parts and focus on potentially dangerous body parts before they get the word out.
It would take a long time to write and talk about Baldur’s Gate III, but sometimes it’s really better to watch a video or start playing straight away. And if you’re an RPG positive, I have no doubt that the lines above will entice you. Just remember that Baldur’s Gate III is in the preliminary approach, despite 40,000 positive reactions to Steam. There are also bugs in the current version and, of course, much of the content that developers work on in privacy is missing. On that account, Swen Vincke indicated that Grymforge was already considered a backup if the development of the game dragged on – which is currently happening and so far no one wants to specifically promise any date. However, the head of Larian Studios revealed that more than 350 people are currently working on the game, which is 100 employees more than last year’s figures. Three hundred and fifty people. This is already a solid base and we firmly believe that Baldur’s Gate III will arrive in the best possible condition.
