Louis Vuitton will introduce a new watch. Wear OS replaces with its own system

According to the portal TheVerge the legendary fashion brand Louis Vuitton will launch another version of its watch Tambour Horizon Connected Watches. The bad news is that they will no longer use the system wear OS.

Information about the new smart watch has appeared in some online stores

According to the portal’s sources, the watch should attract attention thanks to 24 LED lights, which are similar to a bizarre light speaker from Louis Vuitton. Its price in stores is $ 2,890 and is reminiscent of items from the Star Wars space opera. More importantly, however, the watch is giving up Wear OS in favor of a proprietary operating system.

Information about the new watch appeared for a while in stores such as HypeBeast, HypeBae and Wareable, but within a few hours it was downloaded from their website. Because the details of the hardware and software were unclear, so did the portal TheVerge decided to contact Louis Vuitton and its parent company LVMH to confirm the existence of the watch. Unfortunately, the brand has not yet provided further details.

According to information that appeared briefly in stores, the watch has a touch screen and user interface fully controllable by finger. Swipe in different directions to see alerts, metrics, settings, and the “My Travel” screen, which stores schedules and boarding passes. The description also included customizable dial options and basic health monitoring features.

Deviating manufacturers from Wear OS, Samsung is going the other way

Another interesting feature in the description was that the proprietary operating system was “made for the iPhone”, but was also described as compatible with Android and HarmonyOS. If the information about the proprietary system were true, it would not be the first time that the traditional smart watch brand with Wear OS has quietly deviated from this platform. The recently announced Moto Watch 100 has also decided to use proprietary software called Moto OS.

At the same time, the rival Samsung has recently taken the opposite path. After years of using his own Tizen OS system, he installed the new Galaxy Watch 4 smart watch with the Wear OS 3.0 system. They are even the only smart watches that use the new version of the system so far. Wear OS 3.0 fixes several shortcomings of previous versions of the system. The manufacturer recommends the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset for smooth operation of Wear OS 3.0.
