In 2021, these threats bother Android phones the most

The Android system itself is very well secured, and in order for a virus to get a chance in it, the “gate” must most often be opened by the user himself. What malicious applications are they trying to get into our Android partners most often? Threat analysis from Avast has exact figures for 2021. Adware is still the most significant threat on Android phones and tablets.

This advertising malware was created in the first five months of this year 45% of all mobile threats. The second place with 16% is occupied by fake applications and the third place by bank Trojans with a share of 10%. Other types of malware include downloaders, spyware, and lockers / mobile ransomware. Adware displays disruptive ads and attracts users to download by pretending to be a legitimate application. A recent example of the massive spread of adware is the HiddenAds family, unveiled by Avast in October.

Avast has noted two main types of adware. The first includes games, photography or other lifestyle applications. They look nice, but users are spammed by ads inside and outside the app after downloading them. The second common type is advertising fraud. This type of adware, when downloaded, triggers malicious activity in the background and displays unrelated ads, notifications in notifications, or other aggressive advertising techniques.

Adware sometimes includes ads with malicious content. In the case of advertising fraud, an encrypted file can be automatically downloaded together with the application, which it then runs on the device fake ad clickswithout users knowing about it or them subscribes to various premium services. The second most common type of mobile software attacker revealed by threat analysis is applications that simply pretend to be something they are not. For example, it appears as a trusted application for tracing covid-19 or as an adblocker. Bank Trojans, or “bankers,” do the same.
