Huawei doesn’t have it easy in Germany. Although there are many limitations in smartphones, the Chinese company does not want to give up. An important partnership ended some time ago and will now also disappear visually.

Huawei removes Leica logos from phones

Huawei and Leica have belonged together for years. The Chinese group and the traditional German company have taken smartphone photography to a new level and launched legendary smartphones such as the Huawei P20 Pro. But a few months ago it was over. Huawei and Leica have parted ways. Future smartphones will therefore no longer be able to benefit from the expertise. The colleagues from Notebook check also noticed that Huawei subsequently changed images that still showed Leica logos. The Huawei P50 Pro was originally unveiled with the Leica logo as you can see in the cover photo above, but it has now been removed from the product page.

Huawei removed the Leica logo and other text next to the main camera from the back. Only Huawei can be read there – without Leica. Thereby the smartphone looks much “cleaner”, but also loses its Leica camera capabilities, although it was presented with the features. In the future there will be no more Leica phones from Huawei. How this affects the image quality remains to be seen. But smartphones also take good pictures.

In the promotional video, the Huawei P50 Pro still had Leica branding:

Huawei Mate 50 Pro is coming to Europe

The Huawei P50 Pro is officially sold in Germany and the Mate 50 Pro will probably find its way to us. With a price of 1,299 euros and various restrictions, it will have a difficult time. It is still not possible to use Google services and apps. The 5G modem is also missing.
