What kind of models will there be?
Before we start with the functions, first a short round-up. There will be four iPhones this year, but they are not the same models as last year. We get an iPhone 14 and 14 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen, as well as an iPhone 14 Max and 14 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen. What is missing in this setup? Right, the iPhone 14 mini, because it will be replaced by the 14 Max.
The mini has never been a great sales success, so Apple is now pulling the plug. If you want a handy phone, you better strike now and go for a 12 mini, 13 mini or iPhone SE 2022. Personal advice: we would go for the 13 mini.

Beyond that, though, there are plenty of reasons to wait for the iPhone 14, especially the iPhone 14 Pro. The functions below prove that.
1 The notch disappears
The iPhone 14 Pro (Max) loses the notch! Apple has always needed the signature notch at the top of the screen for the Face ID camera, but it’s no longer needed on the Pro version of the iPhone 14. Instead, two small black holes appear in the screen: one round and one in the shape of a pill.
However, the regular iPhone 14 keeps the notch, and according to the latest rumors that will also be the case on the iPhone 15. Do you want an iPhone that really looks new this fall? Then you’ve come to the right place with the 14 Pro.
2 iPhone 14 Pro is better due to new chip
It’s an unwritten rule. A new iPhone gets a new A-chip from Apple. But this year it will be different for the first time. While the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) simply makes the switch from the A15 Bionic to an A16 Bionic, the iPhone 14 (Max) remains on the processor of last year.
Also in this case, the difference between the regular and the Pro model of the iPhone becomes greater. Do you want an iPhone that is a lot faster than its predecessor. Then you need the iPhone 14 Pro again.
3 iPhone 14 Pro is better with 48-megapixel camera
Improvements to the camera are also a must-have for any new iPhone release. But this also seems to be different this year. The regular iPhone 14 retains its 12-megapixel sensor, and due to the lack of a new chip – and therefore an image processor – we hardly expect any steps forward in the camera field. Quite possibly the iPhone 14 will get the same ultra-wide angle lens as the iPhone 13 Pro. For example, you could take macro photos with it, but that was it in terms of improvements.
But then the iPhone 14 Pro. It will reportedly get a camera with a 48-megapixel sensor. What good is the quadrupling of pixels in your photos? Crisp photos in good light, slightly better photos in poor lighting conditions (thanks to the merging of multiple pixels).
There is also a chance that the iPhone 14 Pro will support astrophotography. That way you could just take pictures of the starry sky and the moon at night – and then they would be cool pictures and not pictures that you accidentally throw away afterwards.
4 A very striking color
Perhaps not the reason to go for an iPhone 14 Pro, but the Pro model seems to have a very striking color. There is a purple variant. Now you rightly say: ‘We already had that with the iPhone 12, didn’t we?’ True, but the purple back was a bit pale in it. We hear about the iPhone 14 Pro that the color will have a ‘kaleidoscopic’ effect. That would mean that it takes on a slightly different hue based on the angle you look at the iPhone.
