How much money is enough? Not as much as you might think
Almost everyone would like to have a nice carefree life, that includes enough money and that is not much at all.
This is according to an American study. This shows that most people don’t want to be billionaires anyway, ten million would be fine. But Americans are different, they do want more money. ‘Greed is good’ also applies here.
How much money can you live with
$10 million. That’s the amount most people think is necessary to live a comfortable life. Unless you’re American. In a recent survey conducted by university psychologists from the British Universities of Bath, Bath Spa and Exeter, most people said $10 million is an ideal amount. This is to lead a ‘comfortable life’.
The university researchers asked 8,000 people the same questions. This was done in 33 countries on as many as 6 continents. A good reflection of humanity you would think. A majority of people in 86% of these countries said they could “achieve their absolute ideal life” with $10 million or less. The question focused on how much money they would consider sufficient if they won the lottery.
Unlimited wishes
These research conclusions could challenge the idea that people crave ‘unlimited desires’. An exception was people in the US, where the majority of those surveyed said they would need at least $100 million or more to lead an ideal life. In contrast, more than 50% of people who responded in Argentina, India and Russia said they would like $1 million or less to live a comfortable life. What amount do you dream of?
