High on Life: Game Pass’ biggest hit of 2022 is coming to PlayStation
Imagined by Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty), the funny FPS High on Life was the biggest success of Xbox Game Pass in 2022. The studio game Squanch Games was released as a temporary exclusive on Xbox Series and in day one on the Game Pass, which was enough to ensure a huge success (nearly 8 million players at last count). This enthusiasm is also undoubtedly explained by the real desert of exclusives that the Xbox Series went through last year (no game from Xbox Studios for example).
There is little doubt that this success could have been even greater: the marketing around the game was abruptly stopped by the indictment of Justin Roiland for domestic violence. Justice dropped the case for lack of evidence, but Justin Roiland lost a lot in the meantime: the latter was fired from his own studio and his name no longer appears in the credits of the game, even though the creator of Rick and Morty doubles the voice of the weapon-alien in the game (a very talkative weapon by the way).
High on Life continues its adventure today and lands on PlayStation consoles (PS4, PS5), which could well allow it to cross the bar of 10 million copies sold. Needless to say, this would be a sales record for Squanch Games.
