HBO Max app keeps crashing

HBO Max

The HBO Max app doesn’t work very well and often crashes. Read here what the company is going to do about it.

Still annoying, you will soon be watching the new Batman and the app will freeze on your smartphone. You can expect more from such a large company. Viewers have been complaining about this for some time. The lack of findability functions also plays a role here.

HBO Max app crashes

The company has taken the complaint to itself. Since then there have been a number of overhauls and repairs. Now we know why. As it turns out, HBO Max launched its apps before they were ready to keep up with its competitors. The app was “never intended to go global” or to meet the needs of a direct-to-consumer market, according to an interview given by Sarah Lyons, chief of product experience at HBO Max. The network wanted to build an audience first and then fix the app’s flaws as the service grew. So not a good strategy.

The head thinks this was a good move. We replaced the aircraft’s engine while flying the aircraft,” she said. “I think it was the right decision to balance both,” Lyons said.

Competition

The competition is cutthroat. So HBO couldn’t stay behind with an app. HBO Max first released its app in May 2020, joining an already saturated streaming ecosystem that includes Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, and others.

There have been complaints about platforms and devices on Reddit since the app’s initial launch. “We’ve been trying to watch the Harry Potter movies and literally every 15 minutes we get an ERROR message and have to force close the app. Another time it froze completely. It’s definitely not good. I don’t have this problem with any other app or streaming service,” one user wrote in a thread titled “Why is this app sucking so hard?” on the r/HBOMax subreddit.
