Hackers make MIUI 11 work on an iPhone

Hacker have managed to make Xiaomi’s MIUI shell work on an iPhone. That’s quite an achievement, and they exploited a known vulnerability of Apple’s devices. In a video we see the software at work.

MIUI 11 on an iPhone

Hackers have targeted a vulnerability of older iPhones and have managed to make MIUI 11 work on the device. That writes the Chinese MyDrivers. The flaw is called “checkm8” and is present in a whole range of phones, from the iPhone 5S to the iPhone X.

In their video, they show how the software works on Apple’s phone, but there is no detailed explanation of how they accomplished the hacking. In addition to the flaw they exploited, the hackers also used a well-known tool called ‘Checkra1n’ to ‘jailbreak’ the iPhone. That is, all restrictions that Apple imposes to protect ordinary users are removed.

Show off performance

Of course, hacking an iPhone and then installing MIUI 11 on it is not a significant achievement if you look at it purely functionally. Many Xiaomi functions will not work on the phone, although the phone seems to be connected to a network. Yet hackers like to target the iPhone to show the world what they can do.

It is not the first time that Android has worked on an iPhone, because hackers previously also made Android work on an iPhone 7 via the so-called Project Sandbox. Then hackers did make their method public on GitHub.

Recently, more became known about the functions of the iPhone 13, and we have known one of those novelties on Android for 11 years. Would you like an iPhone that works on Android, and which software shell should run on Apple’s phone? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
