GTA 6: All promising rumors at a glance

Although GTA 6 hasn’t even been officially recognized by Rockstar yet, there are several promising rumors that keep coming back.

Everyone and his mother and his great-great grandfather are waiting for GTA 6, but for now the game has not even been announced technically. Still, every now and then some information trickles out of the rumor mill. So today a summary of the most promising rumors and leaked information about GTA 6.

GTA 6 – The Most Promising Rumors

Vice City

One of the most common rumors is about the setting of Grand Theft Auto 6. Time and again we hear that the game takes place at least partly in Vice City, the environment of the second 3D GTA. Rockstar Games also seems to have already captured websites that have to do with Vice City in any case to some extent.

In short, based on multiple sources, it seems very likely that the game will be set in Miami-inspired Vice City. Other leaks talk about a combination of Vice City with, among other things, a fictional Brazilian environment. Red Dead Redemption 2 also had a passage in a completely different country, so that could explain those messages.

Back to the 80’s

The return trip to Vice City immediately evokes a second piece of information, namely the time period of the game. The past three main GTAs have been played in the present tense. With GTA 6, according to several rumors, the game goes back to the 80s.

For example, information was recently leaked about the game’s music. Radio stations are an integral part of driving in GTA and for that Rockstar would have looked for 80’s synthwave music. It could be just one genre station, separate from the actual time period. But Vice City in combination with that music certainly points to a journey back in time.

PlayStation exclusive

Finally, there is the issue of platforms. Rumors about GTA 6 and its content are relatively scarce, but in terms of platforms, we’ve got enough: the game will only be released for next-gen consoles (and probably later PC). In fact, the game is said to be a limited-time exclusive to PlayStation 5. Sony already managed to arrange all sorts of exclusivity for Call of Duty’s before, so it’s likely that they want to patch for GTA 6 as well.

We have also been hearing for years that the next Grand Theft Auto will not be released for older consoles. Since we don’t expect GTA 6 for the time being, a last-gen release is almost out of the question. After all, by the time the game hits stores, at the earliest in 2022, the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will already be well established.

Of course, all the above information is not confirmed. There are rumors that GTA 6 will reveal or at least be announced at the upcoming E3 (mid-June). So we’ll soon know if we’ll know anything more soon, say… Until then, we’re dependent on Rockstar Games’ notorious radio silence.
