The essential online component of the racing sim is back online after Polyphony Digital fixed issues with the flawed 1.07 update. They did this by releasing 1.08 for gamers. As studio boss Kazunori Yamauchi explained, the earlier patch had a “rare” and previously unnoticed problem. Which prevented the game from launching properly for some PS4 and PS5 owners. The company decided to stop the release of 1.07 to protect players’ stored data, Yamauchi said.
The return will likely be appreciated by fans looking to dive into Gran Turismo 7’s main GT mode. However, it also comes too late to prevent any damage to the game’s reputation. Users have rated the game during its downtime and it is now at 3.3 on Metacritic. So there is some work to be done to repair this damage.
Update
The new update also fixes other issues. Like by adjusting the microtransactions on event rewards. While Yamauchi wants the prices of in-game cars to be somewhat correlated with their real-life counterparts, he also wants players to be able to enjoy the title without microtransactions or repeating certain events. There will also be more content, events and features to “constructively resolve” complaints about real money purchases, the director said.
