According to a leaker, Google has changed its mind about the upcoming Pixel Tablet. Contrary to what was planned, it should not appear in two versions after all. Only the more powerful Pro version should come in the summer. Meanwhile, more details about the Android tablet have surfaced.

Pixel tablet: Only Pro version should appear

A leaker claims to have learned that Google is no longer planning a standard version of the Pixel Tablet. Instead it should only a better equipped variant give (source: Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter). The tablet was originally supposed to use Google’s first Tensor G1 processor. Now we can assume the Tensor G2, which can also be found in the Pixel 7 (Pro) cell phone.

Should Google really do without the standard version, it would the suffix Pro no longer makes sense. The tablet could then simply be marketed as a Pixel Tablet. Apart from the processor, there would probably be no difference between the two models anyway.

Meanwhile, it is becoming increasingly clear what equipment is to be expected with the Android tablet. According to the latest information, the Tensor G2 from 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage supports. The display should offer a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The specs sound very similar to those of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8.

According to earlier reports, it will be the Pixel Tablet be a 2-in-1 device. In combination with a charging speaker dock, it can probably be turned into a smart speaker with a display.

Google continues to keep a low profile when it comes to its own Android tablet. The Pixel Tablet was announced back in May 2022, it’s been pretty radio silent since then. It can be assumed that the tablet will be officially presented at the next Google I/O, which will probably take place in May 2023.
