Google Street View is back in Germany

Thinking about touring Germany this summer? Or do you live near the border and do you come there more often? You may have noticed that Germany does not have Street View. This is due to privacy concerns in that country. But that will now change.

Germany on street view

Not a single German street has been featured on Street View since 2010. The reason is that there were privacy concerns. A lot has changed in the world in the meantime and Germans are more open about technology, even if that means that they have to sacrifice some privacy. Google has done research according to The Keyword and it shows that 91 percent of respondents see it as a positive service.

That used to be different. Then there were many citizens who wanted everything erased. So much so that there was actually nothing left of Street View. If there’s enough blurring in the images, then Street View is pointless at all. It is now high time to revive Google Street View in Germany with new images.
