Google requires Google account for Fitbit users

Fitbit users will soon be required to sign in with a Google account. This news has been confirmed by Fitbit itself. Support for Fitbit accounts is ending.

Fitbit accounts are moving to Google

From 2023, Fitbit will support logging in with your Google account. This is according to new information shared by Fitbit. Current Fitbit accounts will be supported until “at least the beginning of 2025”, after which everyone will have to sign in with a Google account, Fitbit says. For future newly released Fitbit devices and future features, you may be asked to sign in with a Google account earlier. Google will not use Fitbit users’ health data for advertising, the company said.

Some time ago, Fitbit was acquired by Google. This acquisition was completed by both parties at the beginning of last year. It is clear that the ecosystem of Fitbit and Google will grow closer together. For example, reports have been circulating for some time that Google will provide its new Pixel Watch with Fitbit integration. This has the advantage that you can use the various Fitbit tools on Google’s new smartwatch.
