3D animals in Google

Google has teamed up with the Swedish conservation organization SSNC. Together they have made a selection of five animal species that are endangered in Sweden, and you can find them as a 3D model in the Google search results. That’s what Google says in a blog post. It concerns the following animals:

  • The polar fox: threatened by climate change
  • The porpoise: often the victim of toxic substances and noise pollution
  • The woodpecker: he suffers from the deforestation
  • The lynx: is often a victim of traffic accidents and illegal hunting
  • The Bumblebee: disappears because there are fewer and fewer wild flowers

If you enter one of these animal names in Google you will see option Display in 3D. You then see the animal appear and you can view it from all possible perspectives. Then you can swipe up to see the other endangered animals or press Show in space. With the latter option, the animal appears in a realistic size in your environment using your smartphone camera. Then you can drag it and take a photo.
