Google promises five years of updates for Nest devices
Google has provided more information about the update plans it has for its Nest devices. This concerns, for example, smart speakers, but also the thermostat, security camera and the Chromecast.
5 years of updates for Nest
Nest started out as an independent manufacturer, but was acquired by Google a few years ago. More and more products are now being released with the product name Nest. However, these smart devices must be kept up to date with software updates. To allow them to communicate with other devices, but also for new functionality and the security of a device.
Google has now shared more information about the company’s update vision for the Nest devices. Google promises at least five years of update support for Nest devices. This includes not only the smart speakers, but also the Nest Cam, Hello doorbell, Chromecast and the thermostats from the manufacturer. Google also indicates that it will pay even more attention to privacy and security. This includes various tools, such as having insight into which devices are connected to your Google account, two-step verification of your Google account and investing in further security research. There will also be independently validated security on Nest devices, which partner with the Internet of Secure Things Alliance.
