Android 13 is a new version of the popular smartphone operating system. Google has already published the first test versions, but has not yet activated all functions. One of them was extracted from the source code and affects the background image of your mobile phone.

Android 13 adjust wallpaper to time of day

Personally, I’m a big fan of animated wallpapers that adapt to specific situations. Google wants to expand the feature and is planning an exciting innovation for Android 13. This should be possible via the “digital well-being” function Adapt the background image of your smartphone to the time of day and can be dimmed, especially in the evening (source: 9to5Google).

Especially if you use eye-catching, bright and glaring background images on your smartphone, the backlight can make them uncomfortable in the dark. With Android 13 you will get a solution for this without having to change the wallpaper. The new operating system will simply weaken the colors a bit and work like a dimmer. Optionally, even a black background can be set.

This is of course all optional. Of course, if you want to enjoy your background image the way you used to, you can continue to do so. Google can already use the colors to customize the look of the Android 12 menus. Extending this to radiance and then influencing the display of the background image would be the next step that would make perfect sense in order to improve the usability of the smartphone.

Google’s Pixel 6 will quickly receive the Android 13 update:

Android 13 is almost ready

We no longer have to wait too long for Android 13 to be completed. The first beta versions are already out and the testers are hard at work. Smartphone manufacturers have already started to adapt the update to their devices. The final rollout is expected in autumn. Google’s Pixel phones are served first. Other manufacturers are likely to follow a few weeks or months later.
