Google is giving Wear OS a major makeover

Wearables will get a makeover this year through a collaboration between Google and Samsung. Wear OS is getting some interesting new features.

New wearables ecosystem

In partnership with Samsung, Google has merged the best of Wear OS with Samsung’s Tizen. Which ensures better performance and longer battery life, something that users often ask about with smartwatches. This new platform is available to anyone who wants to work with it. It must also become more interesting for developers to write apps for this ecosystem.

Changes for users

Users will soon be able to switch between applications more quickly, for example by double pressing a button.

There will also be new Tiles, or rather widgets for your watchface. This way you can effortlessly swipe between watchface, calendar apps and other useful tools such as a widget that allows you to relax for a while. The appearance will also change thanks to a Material Design update.

New Tiles

In addition to all these external changes, Google Maps and the Google Assistant are also being redesigned and improved. Google Pay will also be redesigned and will receive support for 26 new countries in addition to the 11 countries in which it is already available. YouTube Music is coming to Wear later this year.

With the latest Wear update, the collaboration with Fitbit is also visible in a new app. This app provides you with accurate health data and motivation throughout the day.
