Google has introduced new conditions that all applications for Wear OS 3 will have to meet

Google has relied on the latest version of the smart watch operating system, and app developers want it. The 9to5Google portal informs that from October 13, all applications for Wear OS 3 will have to meet the new conditions.

The new terms for Wear OS 3 mainly apply to notifications and screenshots in the Play Store

The new developer manual begins with rules for displaying notifications. These include, but are not limited to, using quick replies or using the “MessagingStyle” for conversations. The next section focuses on using the right interface to suit both square and round watches. The size and clarity of the text is also important, as these are small devices.

If it is an application that is only available to Wear OS devices, it must be able to work independently of other devices. This means, for example, that logging in to the application and verifying must take place directly on the watch, not on the mobile or computer. However, if it’s an app that’s also available for Android smartphones, the developer must mention in the Play store that their app also has a version for Wear OS. The screenshots must also include at least one screenshot of the application directly on the Wear OS device.

The new rules will take effect next month. It may seem like a short time to implement so many changes, but Google claims that many developers already meet most of these conditions. Therefore, they should have no problem migrating to the new system.
