Google gives Google Contacts app the new Material You design

With the arrival of Android 12, we can expect a series of new features. The most interesting feature that has been newly added is the Material You design. This new interface has now been implemented in the Google Contacts app.

The new Material You design is one of the biggest changes to Android in several years. Different applications and design things will look different in the near future. Google has already poured the Material You sauce over the Google Contacts app for Android. This is reflected in the refreshing new search bar that has been given the familiar pill form. The bottom right button is also no longer round, but square with rounded corners.

A feature of the Material You theme is that colors from the background can be copied into the interface of an app. The accent colors in the app may therefore differ. In any case, the Google Contacts app will also receive support for a light and dark theme. After the update, the new design will be available in Android 11 and Android 12, but will only do its job later with the final announcement of Android 12.
