Domino’s Pizza pays employees Bitcoin salary
If your employer, like Domino’s Pizza, gave you the option to receive your salary in Bitcoin, would you?
Bitcoin is becoming more and more mainstream. In order to make cryptocurrency acceptable among the ‘common’ people, at least two things must be done. First, you have to be able to pay with it in many places. Second, it should be as accessible as possible. In that respect, this development is good news for Bitcoin in general. Domino’s Pizza gives employees the choice to receive the salary in Bitcoin.
As of today, employees will be given this choice. Or euros, or in Bitcoin. The payout in Bitcoin is carried out by bitcoin company BTC Direct. The announcement is no accident. Today is Bitcoin Pizza Day. A day that reflects on the fact that 11 years ago someone paid 10,000 Bitcoin for two pizzas. With the knowledge of today the most expensive pizzas in the world.
Only part of the salary can be paid in Bitcoin. This has to do with Dutch law. The minimum wage will continue to be paid in euros. Everything above that is possible in Bitcoin. The payout is simply on the pay slip, so there isn’t much else in that regard.
Domino’s Pizza employs more than 1000 internal and external employees who now have the option to receive part of their salary in Bitcoin.
