Getting dressed has never been easier
Anyone who wants to put on shoes without having to move around has previously needed flip-flops, sandals or maybe a loafer. Manufacturers of running shoes have often replaced traditional laces with innovative fasteners. There has probably never been a solution like the one Nike is now showing.
Nike Go FlyEase: a shoe that puts on itself
“Easy entry, easy exit” – so describes Nike a new shoe that selected Nike customers will initially be able to buy, but which everyone will be able to buy in 2021. You can step into the Go FlyEase like in a slipper. In contrast to moccasins, for example, you don’t even have to wind yourself in and you don’t need a shoehorn. Because when it is “at rest”, the sole construction of the Go FlyEase is bent so that it presents itself to the wearer as an angled slipper.
As soon as you sink into the shoe with your own body weight, the sole becomes straight – and looks like a pretty ordinary running shoe or sneaker. According to Nike, a special hinge is built into the sole. The shoe is not under tension when it is worn.
Nike introduces the Go FlyEase:
Jimmy Fallon also jokes about the shoe
The US late-night presenter Jimmy Fallon joked about the Nike Go FlyEase this week: In 2019, he presented an idea for the US company for a shoe that “clicks into place” when you put your foot in . Nike later invited Fallon to a meeting and showed him the Go-FlyEase concept, which the manufacturer had been working on for much longer. The shoe, stresses Fallon, should make it easier for older people and people with motor impairments to put them on and take them off.
Last year, Nike received media attention for another shoe: the World Athletics Federation had at the time decidedthat the high-tech running shoe Vaporfly Next% complies with the rules and runners can continue to wear them in competitions. Critics saw the shoe, which is equipped with a carbon plate and comparatively thick soles, an advantage for Nike athletes.
