Galaxy Buds Pro officialized: new wireless headphones from Samsung

In addition to the Galaxy S21s, Samsung lifts the veil on the Galaxy Buds Pro, new wireless headphones. They come to compete with Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Galaxy Buds Pro, Samsung’s new premium wireless headphones

Galaxy Buds Pro are in-ear type headphones (the tip of which fits into the ear canal). Samsung ensures that the sound quality is there thanks to the expertise of AKG. The manufacturer speaks of a sound “powerful, rich and devoid of distortion”. This is notably possible thanks to an 11 mm speaker for the bass and a 6.5 mm speaker for the treble.

Another important point for the Galaxy Buds Pro is the support for active noise reduction (ANC). This filters out up to 99% of interference and surrounding noise to concentrate on your work or cut yourself off from the outside world. Additionally, ANC and Ambient Sound work together. This allows the headphones to adapt to the environment and conditions in which they are used. Thus, the active noise reduction goes into standby automatically when the owner of Galaxy Buds Pro is chatting with a person next to him. The function is reactivated automatically when the discussion is finished.

Samsung also claims that its wireless headphones are very good for phone calls. They know how to separate the voice from parasitic noise to ensure clear sound thanks to three microphones and a voice capture unit (VPU). In addition, the headphones have the Auto Switch function allowing them to connect to multiple devices simultaneously.

Another feature of the Galaxy Buds Pro who is inspired of AirPods Pro is 360 Audio. It uses Dolby Head Tracking technology to put the user at the center of the scene. On the other hand, the headphones have an IPX7 certification (resistant to rain and perspiration).

What is the autonomy? Samsung talks about 8 hours of listening with a charge. The storage case allows for 20 hours of additional charge. With noise canceling enabled, the user will enjoy 5 hours of playback and 13 more hours from the case. And thanks to the fast charge, 5 minutes are enough to recover 1 hour of battery.

Galaxy Buds Pro price and release date

The Galaxy Buds Pro will be offered in black, silver and purple. The headphones will be available for purchase on January 29 at a price of 229.90 euros.
