From now on, we will also pay by mobile phone or watch on selected ZSSK trains

ZSSK introduces the long-awaited novelty. 277 train drivers are gradually receiving mPOS payment terminals, which will allow passengers to purchase travel tickets also cashless – by card, mobile phone or smart watch.

Today, the payment terminals have been taken over by 80% of the selected train drivers, and the carrier promises that the remaining ones will receive it by the end of the first quarter of 2022 at the latest. ZSSK made the possibility of non-cash payment available primarily for long-distance and interstate connections. Specifically, these are IC trains on the route Košice – Bratislava, SC 24x Pendolino trains on the Čadca – Košice route, Ex 12x trains on the Púchov – Horní Lideč route, EC 2xx international trains on the Štúrovo – Břeclav route and R 6xx express trains on the Košice route. – Bratislava (except R 614/615).

ZSSK tested the novelty in the spring of this year

The carrier began testing the novelty earlier this year, when it put ten mPOS terminals into circulation. It turned out that the possibility to pay cashless pleased passengers and train drivers, who perceived the handling of cash as a burden. On the contrary, the operation of the terminals is quick and easy according to the feedback from the train drivers.
