Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition official: e-ink screen and mechanical hands

Fossil has launched a new variant of its Gen 6 Hybrid. This is a smart watch that works with mechanical hands and its own operating system. The new Wellness Edition now has sports and health functions and that from 229 euros.

In June 2022, Fossil released a Hybrid variant of the Gen 6. This has a classic watch design with mechanical hands and an economical e-ink screen. The battery of the Gen 6 Hybrid therefore lasted up to two weeks. The new Wellness Edition focuses on athletes and you can already see that in the design with the silicone strap.

It also has many sports and health functions. It automatically detects workouts and starts recording them itself. During exercise, the watch can give you more insight with heart rate zones, the SPO2 blood oxygen measurements and VO2 Max calculations. The latter is a method of measuring the maximum amount of oxygen that the body uses during exercise.

Smart features

The Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition doesn’t work with Wear OS, nor can it install third-party apps, but it does have other smart features. You can use Amazon Alexa as a smart assistant on your wrist. You can further personalize the watch face on its e-ink screen and the Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition also shows your notifications and can control your phone’s music. The watch is also equipped with a microphone for calls.

One feature that’s missing is built-in GPS, but the Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition can use your phone’s GPS during activities. The smartwatch is also water resistant to a depth of 30 meters, so you can also wear it during swimming activities. With its battery, it can last another two weeks and after 60 minutes of charging, the watch is 80 percent charged.
