Foldable Apple iPad without wrinkles

There may be a foldable iPad in the future. According to rumors, Apple is looking for a new kind of hybrid screen for the tablet, without annoying ‘creases’.

Foldable iPad thanks to hybrid OLED screens

According to The Elec, Apple plans to provide the iPad with a hybrid OLED screen. These screens are currently used in some iPhones, but not iPads. These special screens consist of a mixture of glass (like a normal OLED screen) and plastic (which is used in fully flexible screens).

However, these hybrid screens have a disadvantage, because at large dimensions they tend to ‘crease’ and show small irregularities. The larger the screen, the more noticeable the wrinkles.

That is of course quite annoying on a large screen, such as that of the iPad. These creases are also very annoying when you swipe your finger on the screen, because you feel them.

According to The Elec, Apple is currently mainly interested in an improved, hybrid OLED screen for the iPad. However, the technology is not yet ready for use and, according to the website, it will take at least another year to develop further. That would mean that the first iPad with such a new hybrid screen will not be on sale until 2024.

When an iPad with this screen meets Apple’s standards, a foldable iPad is the next step. So you have to be patient if you want an iPad that you can fold in half. Don’t have that patience and are you looking for the best cheap iPad now? Then read the article below.

New iPads are coming

Both Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo have already said there will be a new iPad Pro in 2022. This probably won’t be on September 7, because then eyes will be on the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8.

There will probably be another event in October. We think this event will be all about new Macs, the iPad Pro 2022 and a new ‘regular’ iPad 2022.
