Many people are going on holiday this year and fly via Schiphol for that. There is now a handy app that makes staying at the airport better.
It’s possible again! Enjoy a flying holiday to a faraway place. Packing suitcases and going to Schiphol, that’s where the anticipation actually starts. Strolling around at the duty-free shops, watching airplanes and drinking a cup of coffee. Now there is an app that makes all this easy.

Ordering food and drinks will become a lot better for you. Schiphol has successfully completed a pilot and will now use this function within the Schiphol app for everyone. It is now possible to order contactless food and drinks at any time. This can be done via an app on your smartphone. When the order is ready, you can pick it up at the catering industry. This is of course behind the security check.
So it is now possible to order if you are in such a long queue to check in, for example. You can then find a QR code under a waiting time screen. You have to estimate how long you will still be in line, because you have to choose a time to pick up your order. You can also pay online right away. This means there are fewer contact moments, which is good during the pandemic, but you also stand in line less for your order.
Successful pilot
Schiphol first tested the system extensively during a pilot. Schiphol says about this: ‘We have tested the pre-ordering of food and drinks on a small scale, but we have received positive reactions on a large scale. That is why we are expanding this service. It is now even more user-friendly, because from now on it can be done directly via the Schiphol app and even more catering establishments are connected to the airport. This leaves more time to relax, because the order is ready at the specified time.’
