Facebook zcenzuroval Resident Evil 4 VR » Vortex

The VR version of the famous survival horror film Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus Quest 2 headset has not only undergone the conversion itself and some improvements, but part of the content from it has also been cut out or at least changed. The title, which is being published today, has, for example, got rid of content that was supposed to inappropriately sexualize the president’s daughter Ashley, whom Leon is rescuing. For example, players can no longer look under Ashley’s skirt as before, and the animation has been modified to cover her legs with Leon being a pervert. You won’t see Ashley’s underwear even when she climbs a jet ski at the end of the game.

Facebook allows changes in dialogues and animations to make Resident Evil 4 even for “modern audiences”.

Some dialogues were also cut out. Luis must have commented on her breasts before, which the president’s daughter didn’t like at all. And that’s not a saint either. Ashley again at the end of the game indicated to Leon that they could indulge in a common “overtime”. But the more innocent remarks also disappeared. For example, Leon’s comment that Ingrid Hannigan is younger than he thought. Or that it suits her without glasses. Similarly, the captive flirtation of Leon and Ingrid disappeared.

Facebook has confirmed that the content has been tampered with. According to him, it was necessary for the game to meet today’s standards. It allows changes in dialogues and animations to make Resident Evil 4 even for “modern audiences”. It must be emphasized that the interventions certainly did not occur unilaterally and without the knowledge of the original publisher. Oculus Studios, Armature and Capcom participated in the project.

Bonus modes have also disappeared from the game. And what about the remake?

Since it is one of the most popular games ever, it is no wonder that fans react differently to hits. Some seem relatively understandable, others not so much. So censorship naturally divides the community. In this context, it is worth mentioning the speculated remake of Resident Evil 4 and the question of whether it would undergo similar modifications as well, or in the VR version, the editing was based primarily on Facebook requirements.

But as it turns out, cuts and changes are not just about potentially ticklish or inappropriate allusions. Resident Evil 4 VR also does not include Mercenaries mode and other bonus content that could be unlocked. This will not apply to the Separate Ways and Assignment Ada modes, which have expanded the PS2 version to later ports and editions. Facebook confirmed this, but did not explain why it had been cut out.
