Facebook, Messenger and Instagram have improved avatars
Meta is sending a new look of 3D avatars to several of its social networks. The cartoon portraits that first appeared on Facebook and Messenger in 2019 are now heading as well to private news and stories on Instagram. At the same time, however, there will also be on all platforms design change. The graphic designers have played with other details and several new elements have been added that users can add to their avatars.
It will now be possible to “equip” cartoon characters with, for example, wheelchairs or hearing aids, so there will be an opportunity for more accurate self-presentation for disabled users. The designers also fine-tuned the overall appearance of the characters. They added new models of eyes, noses, hairstyles, beards, clothes or overall body proportions. With the upcoming Super Bowl, T-shirts with NFL teams will also appear.
The aforementioned 3D avatars for Instagram are currently available in the US, Canada and Australia. Graphically improved characters and new editing options in Messenger and Facebook should be gradually discovered by all users who have previously had access to avatars. So also those in the Czech Republic.
